ASIANIA (Asiania Parachute Federation) is a voluntary, non-profit sporting organisation that was established in 1994 at a special meeting at Chengdu, China, during the World Style and Accuracy Championships by a group of experienced parachutists and leaders eager to pursue the development and establishment of greater quality championships and competitions in the ASIANIA (Asian and Australasian) areas.
Countries that attended this meeting were Australia, China, China Taipei, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea and Thailand.
The number of member countries has increased over the years to include Australia, Bahrain, China, China Taipei, Hong Kong China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Korea DPR, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen..
ASIANIA provides encouragement and support in promoting all Asiania area countries to join the FAI. www.fai.org
ASIANIA also conducts FAI IPC approved FAI Judge Training Courses, usually in conjunction with the annual Asiania Parachuting Championships, in an effort to increase the numbers and quality of judges within the Asiania countries.
This year the 16th ASIANIA Parachuting Championships will be held in conjunction with the INDONESIA International Open 2104 at Bandung, Indonesia. An approved FAI Judge Training Course will also be conducted at this venue.
Each year the ASIANIA Annual General Meeting is conducted , usually in conjuction with the Asiania Championships. This year it will be at Bandung, Indonesia.
Another annual event is the ASIANIA EMAX Video Competition which is a competition to encourage jumpers of all levels experience to partcipate in competition. Teams can practice each jump as many times as they wish, but can only submit one official entry. This has a free entry fee and is conducted at each team's selected Drop Zone, using their preferred aircraft. Last year 10 teams partcipated in the 10th anniversary of the EMAX competition .
